About the Brand
V Matcha Bar Hoa Xuan is one of the matcha bars making waves in the southern part of Da Nang city. With the slogan "Chill with Matcha," the bar positions itself as an artistic and experiential space for enjoying Japanese green tea – not simply a takeaway drink.
What sets V Matcha Bar apart from other matcha bars in Da Nang is its use of ceremonial-grade matcha – the highest grade in the Japanese tea industry, imported directly from Japan. The bar offers various matcha varieties such as Yugen (又玄) and Tennozan (天王山),each with its own unique flavor and tea profile.
Space
The V Matcha Bar Hoa Xuan is designed in a minimalist yet sophisticated Japanese style:
Main bar area: A long bar counter with warm yellow LED lighting underneath, creating a shimmering light effect perfect for photos. Guests sit on high stools overlooking the brewing area, watching the barista prepare matcha live.
Japanese-style seating area (Tatami): The ground floor features a seating area on tatami mats with low tables and soft, round cushions – giving the feeling of being in a miniature Japanese tea room.
Walls and decorations: Walls plastered in a muted beige cement color, Japanese paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling, scrolls of Chinese calligraphy, wooden shelves displaying dozens of chawan (tea cups) and various ceramic vases.
Greenery: Bonsai, bamboo, and various Japanese indoor plants are scattered throughout the space, creating a serene atmosphere. Lighting: The lighting system is meticulously set up – during the day, there's natural light from the large glass windows, and at night, the warm yellow lights create a super chill atmosphere and are great for photos.
The exterior of the shop, viewed from the outside, features a white, black, and beige color scheme, with the prominent V-shaped matcha logo, along with the green trees and threeo lanterns in front at night, creating an extremely photogenic exterior.
Menu & Drinks
V Matcha Bar has two two-day menus:
Menu 1 – For matcha beginners: The drinks are adjusted to suit a general palate, less bitter, and easy to drink.
Menu 2 – For matcha lovers: Focuses on the pure matcha experience, with many powder options, suitable for those knowledgeable about Japanese tea.
Signature matcha varieties:
Yugen (又玄): A rich green tea leaf aroma, slightly sweet with depth. The sweetness is clear and light. The aftertaste is smooth and lasts longer. → Balanced – Deep Flavor
Tennozan (天王山): Deep, rich green aroma. Full-bodied, intense taste. Long, lingerie-like finish. → Deep – Rich – Premium
Symbolic matcha line:
Yugen (又玄): Strong green tea leaf aroma, slightly sweet with depth. Clear, natural sweetness, light texture. Smooth aftertaste, longer lasting flavor. → Balanced – Deep Flavor
Tennozan (天王山): Deep, rich green aroma. Full-bodied, intense taste. Long, lingerie-like finish. → Deep – Rich – Premium
First Impression – From the Outside
The first time I stepped into V Matcha Bar Hoa Xuan, what immediately impressed me was the storefront. The black and white sign with the matcha cup logo and Mount Fuji along with the words "Chill with Matcha" is simple yet striking. Greenery on either side of the entrance, large glass windows revealing warm lighting inside – this is the kind of exterior that makes you want to step inside just by looking at it.
At night, the cafe is even more beautiful, with three-tiered lanterns on the trees outside illuminating the facade, creating a cinematic feel, definitely worth stopping to take photos before entering.
Interior Space – A True "Japanese Tea Room"
Stepping inside, the first impression is one of quiet and tranquility – a deliberate kind of tranquility. No loud music, no flashing lights. Everything is calculated to create a sense of peace and focus on the cup of tea in front of you.
The biggest plus of the space is the lighting system. Gold-rimmed LED lights under the bar, three-tiered Japanese paper lanterns on the ceiling, cylindrical floor lamps in the seating area – all blend together to create a space that is both warm and extremely photogenic. You don't need many filters to take great photos here.
The tatami-seated area is the most popular check-in spot. Wall-mounted wooden shelves display dozens of colorful chawan (tea bowls),large lanterns hang from the high ceiling, and white bonsai trees with ikebana flowers sit on the tables – nothing is wasted space; everything has a reason to be there.
The Tea Brewing Experience – A Clear Difference
This is where V Matcha Bar Hoa Xuan truly differs from other matcha shops in Da Nang: a transparent and educational brewing process.
The barista wears an apron embroidered with the shop's logo, black gloves, and uses a chashaku (bamboo spoon) to scoop matcha powder from a glass jar, sifting it through a fine mesh into a glossy black chawan placed on a wooden base. The entire process takes place right in front of customers sitting at the bar – you see each gram of powder being measured, each movement of whisking the tea with the chasen. This is an experience you won't find in many places.
Each cup of matcha also comes with a small profile card that fully lists the tea variety (e.g., Yugen 又玄),describes the aroma, taste, and aftertaste in Vietnamese, and indicates the tea level. This is a very thoughtful approach, helping customers better understand the matcha they are drinking, while also creating a beautiful photo opportunity.
